This training will provide hands-on activities to develop techniques for integrating P2 into inspection programs. This workshop will target both inspection supervisors and field inspectors to find solutions for businesses that reduce pollution at the source.

1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Energy Efficiency Training and On-site Walk Through
Inefficient energy use results in unnecessary depletion of fossil fuels, ecological damage from resource extraction, and power plant emissions that contribute to acid rain, smog, regional haze, and global climate change. This training will provide education on energy basics and cost-saving energy efficiency opportunities in commercial buildings and industrial operations. It will address: Building Envelope, Lighting, HVAC, Pumps, Motors, Compressors, and Boilers. A facility walk through will provide hands on training related to energy efficiency opportunities and technologies for commercial buildings applicable to industrial, office, retail, service, restaurant, and warehouse facilities. An optional happy hour informal question and answer session will follow.

Ever have to get a group to come to consensus? Thinking of starting up a workgroup to tackle a thorny problem? Been assigned to start a partnership with no direction? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should take this training! Using lots of real examples and interactive exercises, the training will cover the principles of facilitation, strategies for planning and running good meetings, and tips and techniques for making groups both effective and fun. The course will be taught by Lori Lewis, regional facilitator for EPA Region 9.

BMPs for commercial dischargers BMPs have been used in the San Francisco Bay area for more than 10 years to regulate commercial and light industrial facilities. The presenters will cover a range of topics that explore the various ways that regulation by BMPs has been done. They will also cover some measurement strategies on their success. Additionally, they will talk about the use of a regional approach to capitalize on resources.

Hospitals generate large amounts of diverse wastes on a daily basis - estimates suggest about 13.2 million pounds nationally.
Federal, State and local initiatives are helping hospitals reduce their waste generation in very tangible ways. Come hear about California and Nevada efforts and the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment Partnership and their concrete environmental results - mercury reduced, water and energy saved, and solid waste minimized and recycled.
